Strawberry Picking

We've taken Addie Kate strawberry picking ever since she was a baby. It's tradition, and she loves it. She's always had a precious strawberry themed outfit to go with the event. (which takes all of 20 minutes and is all of 10 minutes from my parents house, but she's dressed for the occasion nonetheless!) Tommy's never been with us, because he's always working and I'm always off for spring break. This year though, and for years on out I imagine, time off won't be much of an issue and he should be able to take our spring break with us.

This year, we had all been to get our hair cut, seriously, every one of us. Tommy and I had been out looking at houses, Drew was running on borrowed time, and Addie Kate had been playing (read: play clothes worn) with my parents. We were looking for something to do and I reminded him that we'd promised to go strawberry picking the week before and they hadn't been ready. So, we went, spur of the moment, that day.

My children were hot messes, and it was steamy outside.
I would have loved to get an all smiles, everyone looking at the camera in their matching, smocked, strawberry outfits. But this, friends, and children who will one day read this, is the real deal. My children are certainly at no loss for precious clothing, but there are these days too. And they sure are fun!
You know what? We had fun. Lots of it. And still got a basket full of the best thing that's ever come out of good ole Gilbert.

Baby boy really just wanted to get down and crawl in that good, country sand.

Addie Kate loved showing daddy the ropes, since even she, at four years old, has been more times that Tommy has!

Mommy just thought how nice it was to be there holding a baby this year, instead of pregnant with one at 37 weeks along like last year. My feet were happy to not be doubled in size too.

Addie Kate did great until she saw a bug. Then it was all over.
I think this may have only been the second time in all our strawberry pickings that we had the camera with us. I was SO glad, especially since it was our first time as our family of four. First of many to come!
