2nd Mother's Day - 2009 - Addie Kate 18 months (and appropriately wearing one of my old dresses again!)

Thank you for finally giving me the chance to be able to celebrate such a special holiday. When I was little, I used to ask my dad when Kid's Day was, to which he replied, "Everyday is Kid's Day!" I just didn't understand, even as much as I loved my own mom and dad, why we celebrated Mother's Day and Father's Day. Now, I do. Being a parent is such a gift, it deserves its own day for celebration. When I prayed and prayed to have a child, I never imagined I would be given a gift as sweet as you. I love every single, solitary minute we spend together, my sweet girl. Thank you for being the angel that you are. I pray that one day you too will be able to have this title and know this very special love.
When Melissa was three and we were celebrating Mother's and then Father's Days, she asked when Children's Day would be. Since 1983, the 2nd Sunday in July is Children's Day for our family.
ReplyDeleteThat is certainly a Doug quote...
ReplyDeleteYou're a great mom! I still can't believe my sister has a child!!
I used to ask my parents the same thing on Mother's Day and Father's Day, and I agree with you---being a parent IS such a wonderful gift! Love the comparison pictures from last year and this year! :)
