Even a princess has her moments...

And literally, 30 seconds later. (For real, I checked the time on the properties of the picture!)

These pictures completely and totally describe this girl as of lately. I just keep consistent and firm, and pray for the best! I also just keep hoping that it's truly the terrible two's! Addie was such a good baby, that I knew she'd be quite the toddler, and she is! Whew! She wears me out every minute of every day. Sometimes both of us just end up like the above picture! But, then I'll go check on her before I head to bed, and I almost have to tear myself away from her bed, because there is nothing better in this world than that sweet girl!

The Princess on the Potty

I didn't take any pictures of Addie during the actual potty training process. I don't know why - I guess I was just too consumed with getting it over with! I couldn't pass these up the other day though. My sweet little stinker (literally, probably, in this picture!), reading up on Clemson athletics!

Mommy's first 5K since having Addie...

I am not proud to admit that it took me over two years to run another 5K since having Addie! I think that's awful! Although for the whole first year of her life, and even a little longer, from breastfeeding, I lost so much weight that I didn't even think about exercising! Then, this spring rolled around and I noticed my legs were not what they used to be! I was so upset, but I didn't want to join a gym and have to leave Addie in the daycare there. So, running it was! Lucky for me, my friend Jenny had really been running and we motivated each other to meet up in Columbia for a 5K against breast cancer. We had a great time! I need to just go ahead and sign up to run more, because that's the best motivator for me.

Tommy and Jason, Jenny's husband, brought the kiddos to see us. I gotta tell you, it made crossing that finish line completely different than all other races I've done!

Above are pics Tommy got of them waiting for us to finish. Below are after the race:

As with all races, they provide a plethora of food and drinks for the runners afterwards. One of the big sponsors was ChickFilA. Just the smell of that fried chicken almost made me yak, something I'm quite prone to doing, so I just handed it over to Addie and Tommy!

Then the little booger had to have my banana too! What a mess! Look at that face!

Jenny got us these precious shirts! She's so cute -she wanted to wear pink! We definitely needed to - the 5K was called "In The Pink!"

Sweet Friends

It is such a blessing to have good friends! I love that our "main group" of friends up here are always up for a spontaneous dinner party. This night was Cody's actual 2nd birthday, but I had just found a recipe for PF Chang's Mongolian Beef and Lettuce Wraps, so we decided, spur of the moment, to have friends over. Shannon called her favorite bakery to see what cakes they still had left. We thought this was gorgeous, and yummy. It was a pistacio creme and was to die for. Good thing they had the one for Cody's actual birthday party decorated a little more "boy!"

And look at this picture, above. If we are all still living in the same place, this will definitely be one for the yearbook!

Mommy's Helper

Addie has taken a big interest in cooking lately. Namely baking, of which I don't do a ton of! Regardless, the child asks to bake a cake almost every day! We don't do that of course, but usually at least once a week she'll talk us into it! I just have to get it through her head that we cannot just put our finger in the bowl and scoop up a big dollup of batter to lick! Ugh! She did that on her own and got caught red-handed!

Sweetness

I'm glad I caught this! I wish it wasn't fuzzy!

BMW Charity ProAm

Tommy got passes for the BMW Charity ProAm in between trips out of town. So, we (he) didn't want to get a babysitter for Addie on one of the two days he was in town, for just the two of us to go. So, we took her along. Big Mistake! She had one of her two-year old temper tantrums, and in the middle of it, she stumbled along the cart path and fell, which resulted in even louder screams, all at one of the tee boxes, while someone was about to tee off. And yes, the "quiet" signs were up. I grabbed her and hauled a$$ out of there as quick as I could, which of course, was nowhere to go! I was SO embarassed. I mean, possibly one of my most embarassing parent moments so far!

Tommy wanted to walk around and see some of the celebrities, and a client of his that was playing. I just parked Addie and me down on a grassy spot and he walked on. Thankfully, I still keep a pretty big, full diaper bag packed with entertainment. For the most part, she was perfect while we were sitting there. We were in between two fairways, so we had to keep somewhat quiet while there were players on them. She did well.

We were facing one fairway while our backs were on a wooded part of the other. While we were sitting there at one point, I heard a little rustling in the grass. I started to immediately think that it was some sort of animal, but it wasn't! Instead, a player had hit the ball just a few feet from us in the woods! I immediately grabbed Addie and got out the way. I could just see him hitting the ball and it accidentally ricochet towards us! Luckily that didn't happen, but it was a little excitement for us!

After Tommy got done seeing what he could see, we headed for a great lunch at the clubhouse and home! That was all Mommy could handle! I hate we couldn't see more golf, but maybe another time!

Pardon my sinfully white legs!

Addie entertained herself with various things outside!

Including my feet!

One of the celebrities Tommy wanted to see - Catherine Bell. And she was playing with Tommy's client as the amateur!

Tommy's pic of AK and me parked and waiting!

At lunch - they had silly bands out for the kids, which I thought was a great gesture. Addie, was of course, excited to get a new one!

And there's my happy little girl. Not a clue in the world of any kind of golf etiquette!

Picnic and Footprints

On another week when Mom was up and Tommy was out of town, I had her help me with the arduous task of replanting our indoor plants. It is something I hate to do - just dragging them outside, replanting, watering, then dragging them back in, I don't know what it is, I just don't like doing it! Anyway, we worked until it was past time for dinner and for AK to get to bed (Yes, I know I'm saying that and it's still light outside! She goes to bed early!), so I just made her a quick peanut butter sandwich (her absolute favorite) and fruit and told her she was having a picnic! She loved it. Our backyard and patio isn't our favorite place in this house (unlike the beauty that we had in the house we built... I'm not the least bit bitter about leaving that house, no!), so we don't eat outside that much. She does, however, have picnics with her babysitter.
While she was eating, she noticed the puddle of water we had created, and started to splash in it and make her footprints all over the place. She was precious!

South Carolina Children's Theatre Timbre Tales

Greenville really does have so much cool stuff to offer. We just have to find the time to tak advantage of it all! I just learned that the South Carolina Children's Theater does some different small-scale performances throughout the year. Addie and I were able to catch the last one before the end of the school year. The SCCT gets together with various performers from The Greenville Symphony Orchestra to act out children's books. This one was Where The Wild Things Are, which is one of my personal favorites. (And if you haven't read it, please do, and certainly do not let the movie deter you from it!) Hopefully, Timbre Tales will continue and we'll be able to go to all of them when school starts back!

Max:

Addie listening intently!
Max led the crowd in a "wild rumpus!" (if you don't know what I'm talking about, read the book!)
Afterwards, the percussionist invited the children to come play with the various instruments he brought with him. It was REALLY hard for me to get pictures, but AK was so cute!

Spring Fling 2010

My school's annual fundraiser, The Spring Fling, was a big hit with Addie this year. She invited her friend William and his family to come along for the fun! Addie, of course, had to wear red, white, and blue (although it was navy) - those are our school's colors!

The first stop was the helicopters. Kids never cease to amaze me. William is more "boy" than any other boy I've ever been around. Put him in this helipcopter and the child had a cow! Addie was having a blast the minute I put her in it. Usually, she's crawling up me to avoid stuff like this! Maybe it was because Addie insisted on the pink helicopter?
Once it started moving though, William loved it!

We did a little bounce house, but the kids weren't too impressed. The big slide though, oh my! They loved it! This slide was smaller than the one from last year, so Addie did it all by herself! That has me happy and sad at the same time. I love these pictures of them climbing up the stairs. Mostly I love the little "Addie Kate" on her behind!

William was wanting Addie to GO!

My big girl going down all by herself1
And there they go again! These little devils dodged the line and went right back up there! They are small and cute enough to get away with it! I met Addie on the side after this time to steer her to do something else, or if nothing else, to wait in line like she was supposed to. I then went to talk to a friend, and she told me William was back up there! Ha! None of us even saw him!
We lured her away from the lines, rides, and carnival stuff with pizza. Yes, she is her father's child!
