Disney's Rockin' Road Show

We were so excited to take Addie Kate to see Disney's Rockin' Road Show. She has recently started loving the princesses and has always liked Mickey Mouse and Minnie. We just knew this show would be such a treat! Well, it stunk! We were bored out of our minds - even the kids! Tommy got up at one point to see if they were selling any adult refreshments because we had to have something to entertain us! All I can say is thank heavens we only paid for the cheap seats! (Why are shows ALWAYS more expensive up here? I looked at Charleston and Columbia - found coupon codes for both AND they were already $5 or more up here than both places anyway!)

We started out fine...

And we start to get ancy... I even had to break out the lollipops!

They did get into a little dancing, but this show, unlike Sesame Street Live and other shows we have taken her to, didn't play any nursery rhymes or anything that the kids knew and loved. It was all new stuff like some kind of concert and they were bored out of their minds! They don't care about that stuf - hello Disney - you are supposed to know about kids!

Even AK was a little frazzled looking by the end!

I hate to sound so negative, but the truth's the truth! After seeing the Sesame Street Shows, they really know what they are doing, and we are MUCH bigger fans of them (too bad she grows out of Sesame Street before she does Disney)! We are headed in a few days to see Disney on Ice, which I have been to numerous ones before. I'm already disappointed because it was supposed to be Nemo on Ice, which we love, but now it's a 100 Year Celebration of all things Disney. I hope it doesn't stink!

Addie Kate's New Get-Up

Oh YEAH!!!

We started potty training on Sunday, February 28th. It was totally spur of the moment. I had just totally had it with changing her diapers. She would fight them and have such a temper tantrum, and often both of us would end up crying. I finally got the hint that maybe she was ready. It didn't even take a full week, and my little pumpkin was trained, accident free. I was pretty much in disbelief, and still am a little, here a month later. But she has done great and I am SO proud of her! Because I know some of you will ask, and because I want to remember too, she was 2 years and 4 months old. I am NOT a fan of rushing or pushing things with her. I believe children show us when they are ready. I guess I was right - man, does that feel good to say, especially when it involves parenting! (I sure hope I'm right about these 2-year old tantrums!)

For the record, that first night there were 2 accidents. The next day there were 4. From then on out, only one tee-tee accident a day and only one poop a day. By the end of the week there were none of either. Wow! This girl NEVER ceases to amaze me!

Modeling "Carol" Dress ... and playtime with Uncle Paul and Aunt Sue

I took the class to make this dress back in November (I think... I've already forgotten at this point!). I can definitely say that I wasn't in the "mood" to take it. November is just such a busy time of year, and I had enough sewing on my plate with AK's Christmas outfits (one of which I never got to). But, I did finally finish it, I think in January, and made another one (which is the ONLY way to get it engrained in your head how to make it), and even better, AK got to wear it a grand total of ONE time before it got too warm - ha! (And she never wore the smocked one! Oh well, I'll make a pair of pants for it and it'll be a top next year!)

I do like how it turned out, however it is a little older-looking than I prefer. It isn't Tommy's favorite. He prefers the standard bishop or yoke dress, but he was proud of me for getting it finished though!

These pictures were taken after church one Sunday in Lexington, in my dad's "man cave," which Tommy, AK, and I call the playroom, just to get on Daddy's nerves!

(Now that I'm getting a little more confident in sewing, I'm going to try hard to get AK to pose for pix in them. I do plan to do a post on all the outfits and dresses I've made her though, just for my memory, and hers.)

EdVenture

The other weekend while we were in Lexington, Tommy and I wanted to take Addie to EdVenture. It was mostly me that wanted to go - I had always seen the Snowville exhibit advertised, and it looked like so much fun, that I was sure Addie would love it. Too bad it stunk. Snowville was a huge letdown, and pretty much the rest of the museum was as well. Granted, I'm comparing it to the Children's Museum in Greenville, which is amazing. I'm glad we went. I'm sure we'll go back. But I was disappointed.

When we first got there, AK did her thing that she always does - freaks out and jumps in my arms. I don't know if it was the huge kid, Eddy, or if it was the robot doll/muppet looking thing, in the wheelchair, that freaked her out. Regardless, in my arms was where she stayed for a while!

I guess her favorite part was the grocery store. I think that's every kid's favorite part. I enjoyed it with her. The checkout line was longer than at a regular store. And the fake food made me want to yak - at least the fake meats did. (Then I started to think that we were right here in the middle of flu season and wondered how often they cleaned this stuff?)

These next pics were in the specificly for 3 and under room. Tommy and I were able to sit and relax for a bit, and it was much cooler in there, it was my favorite part!

Well, we had a good time. It was fun to experience this with her as with anything new. However, I won't be breaking the doors down to go back! (And if any of you want a road trip, the Greenville Children's Museum is well worth it!)
