My little almost-4-year-old started 3K this year. That always has seemed so silly to me, especially since Addie already knows just about everything they teach her. However, when I started to think that next year would be her last year of preschool, I was is so thankful for her late birthday!
Our sweet Addie Kate, on her first day of 3-year kindergarten. (Note - she now has a new backpack, that was at the monogrammers' on the first day, and in our true style, she had a new, school-themed adorable dress, but it also wasn't ready!)
On the way to Open House (which is also silly, because she had already been going to school for two weeks when we had Open House - they open early for teachers' kids, bless them!), she told me, "Mommy, you know what we got today?" And when I asked, she said, "A wedder bear." Precious. I knew what she was saying - weather - but had no clue what she was actually talking about. Then she pulled me anxiously over to it when we got it her room:
It's the smallest things. It really is.
Addie Kate and her teacher, Mrs. Darcy. Darcy's husband was in Graphic Communications at Clemson with Uncle Paul! And Darcy was an ADPi at Francis Marion, but a Clemson fan, so we are all quite happy!
Little turkey tried to turn shy, which of course, she is anything but.
They had out some of the books they had already made. And of course I beamed. Yes, I am that parent. I flipped through to see all the other kids' work and drawings. And I won't say how much better Addie's was.
Unfortunately, I couldn't make out her drawing exactly, but she quickly told me that it's her and Drew. Oh be still my heart!
And since Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Polar Bear, Polar Bear and Baby Bear, Baby Bear are some of our favorite books, I was excited to see her class' take on it!
But the real highlight of our evening was when she saw her two best friends in the lobby:
They were literally running in circles and jumping up and down when they saw each other!
So here's to another great year! It has a lot to live up to, as 2K was wonderful for her!
