'Cause That's the Way Things Happen on The Polar Express!

I think three was the magic number for doing things with my girl that I had "dreamed" of. Tommy always enjoys my plans and schemes, but for the most part, he just pays for it and goes along with it! He wasn't too wild about us riding The Polar Express, but I know he enjoyed it once we got going! In fact, we all enjoyed it. It even somewhat made the drive up there worth it for me. Somewhat - not completely. I do not recommend it to any pregnant women, with morning sickness, and motion sickness. A very bad combination.

Addie has not always been a fan of trains. She hates loud noises, always has, and trains make very loud noises. But, we knew that going into it, and figured once we got over the initial hump that she'd be fine, and she was! See below her initial feelings towards this trip:

It was chilly out there! I felt bad for the kids whose parents actually put them in pajamas. I did  not play along and do that. There was a pretty good mix of everyone - some in pj's and some not. When we left Greenville that afternoon, it was 60-something degrees. Up in the mountains was a different story!
As soon as we got on the train - she loved us having our little "square" of seats. Note - we paid for the cheap seats. I had asked a few friends that had done this if we needed the better seats to have a better time. They all told me no. I disagree. In the future, we'll pay for better seats! Addie didn't care and Tommy didn't care, but I like to be pampered.
Addie loved our two waitresses - they were pretty comical.

She was not a fan of the hot chocolate (it really wasn't that good - and I love hot chocolate) or the little cookie/cake thing they served (it wasn't that good either) - again, more reason to have the better seats!
They read the book aloud and we followed along with our copy.

The conductor came through to punch our tickets, although he wasn't quite as animated as Tom Hanks in the movie, but he tried!

I looked out our window as we were going past the river, and saw the front of the train around the curve in front of us!

And then someone made his big entrance:
Santa himself! We rode to the "North Pole" and he was standing there waiting on us, with his elves, and packages, then he got on the train!

Addie was not a fan at first. She literally crawled up her daddy. But she chilled, he gave her a bell,
and she even gave him a high five! We are making progress!

Not a great picture (below) but it was my girl ringing her bell for me! She knew that only the people that believed could hear it! (My little bookworm!)

It was definitely a great time. I loved every minute of it and was so glad to fnally be able to take my girl! I can't wait to go back in a few years with our little boy too!
