5th Annual Christmas Fondue

Christmas fondue is one of my favorite nights each year! Not only are the food and company good, but the fact that it's something we have done every year since being in Greenville, is special too. It must be special to Tommy too, because he made it from Florida to Greenville in a scary amount of time, just so he wouldn't miss it.

The first year Tommy and I had gotten nothing but bad news about trying to have a baby, and were about to do a round of in vitro in January. We still had a home in Lexington and had just moved out of the hotel up here into a ramshackle apartment. My beloved grandmother was in the hospital with nothing but bad news. It was a grim Christmas. Amber made a toast that year that I'll never forget, and it was just what we needed to get into the holiday and hopeful spirit.

Our second Christmas fondue, we had a 5 week old baby girl. Amber was so pregnant she was miserable. Shannon was newly pregnant. It was fabulous.

The third Christmas fondue we had one walker (Addie), one crawler (William), and one baby (Cody).

The fourth Christmas we had three wild-as-bucks toddlers. One was 2 (Addie), one was about to turn 2 in January (William), and Cody was 19 months. Amber was pregnant again, and again in the miserable-as-can-be stage with baby Jack, who was born a few days later on New Year's Eve.

This Christmas was our fifth:

L-R: William (almost 3), Addie (3), Jack (almost 1), Cody 2 1/2. One pregnant mama - me, with baby #2, a boy. Wild, funny, entertaining, frustrating, and fabulous.

(There's always a naked baby/child around somewhere, isn't there?)
