Easter Egg Fun
Addie made this adorable little Easter basket out of a milk carton and tissue paper, complete with a beaded pipe-cleaner handle and everything! She has loved playing with it and some eggs that I bought and some she got from her Easter Egg Hunt at her babysitter's house. It took her a while to figure out how to open and close them, and now she loves it!

Flowertown Festival and Fun with The Rhoads
Last weekend was Summerville's annual Flowertown Festival. Somehow or another, we have always managed to be in town for it, and always enjoy it. This year, we actually planned to be in Summerville for it!
We came in on Saturday and went straight to the festival. It was SO crowded by the time we got there, that we didn't get many pictures at all. Too bad Tommy and I had given up fried food and sweets, although that did make the Taste of Summerville portion of the festival much easier on the pocketbook! We still had a good time and enjoyed eating our lunch in the park with Elliott and Laurie.
We went back to Elliott and Laurie's house, where Addie Kate proceeded to almost take a nap, and Tommy and Elliott worked on Aiden's swingset. We enjoyed some fabulous crab legs for dinner, then I was able to go shopping, without children, and with Jenny! It was great!
We attempted the festival again on Sunday, but it was a little rainy, crowded, and we were far away from it (due to an errand we had to run), and starving, so it just didn't happen. We did enjoy all of us just being together though! Nothing like good friends!
I kept trying to get a picture of Addie in her glasses, but I wasn't quick enough. She was too cute in them! And, my mom made her this adorable outfit. I think it's my new favorite, which stinks, because mom said it was difficult. Hopefully the 2nd one won't be as bad, because I have lots of ideas for making it more in the future! I love it! She's already worn it 3 times! Oh, and one more note of interest - the top part (green with lavendar rosebuds) was material that she had made me, and my cousin Emily, a dress with, and she saved to use one last time! Addie Kate is one lucky little girl to have so many custom-made clothes!
She was DONE after lunch!

Fixing Aunt LuLu and Mommy an iced coffee...
Addie LOVES when Laurie (LuLu as Addie calls her) puts on her makeup, because Laurie sits in the middle of the floor and has it in a great, big case that Addie can get into. Somehow, she and Aiden snagged the hairbrush and continued to play with it for a while!
Aiden and Addie played outside for a very long time while Elliott and Tommy worked on the swingset. They played so very well together, which we love. These pictures were taken by me, through the window. I was inside cooking the crab legs, and didn't want to disrupt the playing well by going out there.

They just ran across it over and over again, climbed on it and off of it, and Aiden even shared his snack with Addie on it.
This little set is just Addie's size. Tommy and I were going to get her a swing set this summer/from the Easter bunny, but now we are thinking we may just get one of these for another few months or so. I think she'd actually like it better because she can do it all by herself. We'll see.

I am WAY behind on posting, so these are a little out of order and a little shorter on words than usual!

Our Little Monkey
The week before last, and that weekend, were nasty and rainy. Our little one is nonstop and we knew she had been cooped up inside too long. Big T and I decided she needed somewhere to run off some steam, so a trip to Monkey Joe's it was!
Addie Kate had been there before, and to a couple other bouncey houses/indoor playhouses (one of the advantages to living in a bigger city!), but Monkey Joes is the only one open on Saturdays to the public. (Great for us, not so great for birthday parties in case anyone was wondering!) We knew Addie loved it, so we were super excited to go. Aiden was even in town and got to meet us over there!
Well... as soon as we walked in, Addie freaked out!!! I'm talking, people/strangers staring at us wondering what in the world was wrong, and Tommy even went back out in the pouring rain to hunt down the car for a pacifier. Who would have ever thought we'd need a pacifier in that place? Anyway, after much, much, much prodding and promising her that we would not leave her there, and showing her that the noise she was hearing was fun (the child cannot stand loud noises, and that place was full of screaming kids), she finally started to enjoy herself beyond belief. What got her attention first was a little boy, about her age (who, of course, she called a baby) that was running around and having fun. Then, I showed her the big slide, and she was hooked.
I knew, of course, that I'd have to take her myself down the slide. Little did I know, that I'd have to take her everywhere! She was probably one of the youngest children there (other than babies that were being held by their mothers), and just couldn't do things by herself just yet, at least without getting completely trampled by others. So, up I went, into each and every bouncey house with her. And climbing that slide, toting a 23 lb. girl on your hip, is no easy feat!
Our pediatrician was there, and apparently after observing us for a while, she came over to me and asked, "Does this make you nervous having her here?" It totally did, and I guess that was written all over my face! I don't like crowded places with her, and some of those kids were big and wild! She did great though, it was just me that had the trouble!
On our way home, Addie Kate passed out!!! I mean, didn't even budge for me to manhandle her out of the car seat and car. So, we were able to get her to eat some lunch, then put her down for a nice, long nap. Tommy ran some errands, so Mommy took a nice long nap too.
What other way is there to spend a rainy Saturday? It was just wonderful!

And there we go, back up the slide, for the thousandth time! We did try to let her walk up it, once. The "steps" were taller than she is!

Sharing her milk! She is such a sweet little girl! When she puts her baby in her bed now, she always kisses her good night. She always makes sure she has her "manky" (blankie). The other day, she was patting her baby on the back and saying, "bup, bup, bup," (burp), then put her nose to her behind and said, "poopy!" Love it!

And Chocolate Chip Cookies!
This is a girl after her mommy's heart! There is nothing like Italian food and chocolate! Addie hasn't had a chocolate chip cookie until now. I drove through the McDonald's drive-thru the other day after school in major need of an iced coffee (I'm usually a Starbucks girl, but these are half the price and yummy!). I knew they had cookies for Addie, but they only had chocolate chip. So I got them for her, and fed her her first one in the car seat. When we got to the shoe store we were headed to, it took me 10 minutes and several baby wipes to make her even presentable! But, she loved it! (And man did they smell good - come on Easter! Tommy and I gave up sweets and fried food for Lent, and it's been rough!)
