Daily October 2013

Our October in pictures:

A little porch tailgating. We don't quite have our set up just right, but we are working on it!

My kids. Nonstop entertainment.

Margaret and Dawayne got a new dog, that the children just loved holding.
Addie Kate dressing all kinds of big girl on a solid-orange Friday.

The fair:

Drew LOVED it. Thankfully Addie Kate still rides the small rides and they are both old enough where they can ride together!

Of course Drew's favorite was the choo-choo.

Tommy took Addie Kate to ride a ride that Drew couldn't, so he wanted to ride the motorcycles. He was barely tall enough for it and could barely reach the handlebars. He was goofing off and when it started he got jolted forward. Scared the CRAP out of me, and him, but he recovered and was fine.

Addie Kate tripped coming off the big slide and got two skinned knees. We had to take her to first aid where I thought she'd get cleaned up and get a band aid. I guess the older men that were working were bored and 20+ minutes later she and I leave with these huge bandages. Right in time for family pictures the next day. (And when I pulled the bandages off, they left horrible red marks all in a square on her knees - in addition to the skinned knees. Bless her. I know it hurt.)

We went to see Mema on her birthday.
Where Drew continued to practice his skill of rolling his eyes. Geez.

I LOVE my little artist. I couldn't believe she drew that fish. I kept it on my board as long as I could.

Laurie sent the two crazies these masks for Halloween. Of course AK loved hers.

And here's me trying to keep Drew happy while Addie Kate is at dance. On this night I just let him run wild in the car.
Addie Kate demonstrating her new skill of tying her shoes. She was so proud, and so were we!

Preschool called me one day saying Drew had thrown up. When I went to get him he was a sick little puppy. He runs such high fevers. Then at the doctor, they couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. They ended up drawing blood and putting a bag in his diaper for a urinalysis... which we had to "catch" ourselves and run back up there. It was a virus, which we figured, but it is scary when they can't recognize that right off. Drew was better in a day.

Addie Kate demolishing a bowl of sweet potato casserole!

Our annual trip to Boo at the Zoo, with our cowgirl and pirate:

That do-rag had me cracking up all night!
Poor Addie Kate in her pitiful make-shift costume.

Addie Kate and I enjoyed shopping a little, and some good food, at our church's mission market.

While Drew stayed home with Daddy and worked in the yard.
Oh how I love this picture.
My boy, showing off our pumpkin patch.

Our yearly, naked carving of the pumpkins!
And we promptly went out and lit them, and tried to get a picture of Daddy with the kids and their handiwork. This was also the night before he left for Japan for two weeks. Which means Mommy was being extra sentimental.
We took daddy bright and early, actually before it was bright and early, to the airport, and came home and tried to happy ourselves up with chocolate chip pancakes.
Broadway's Beauty and the Beast on Ice came to the Koger Center for one night, so Mimi and I jumped on the chance to take Addie Kate. My girl loves a Broadway show! She gets it honestly!

Addie Kate showing off her team colors one morning.
For Halloween at preschool, the children are supposed to dress like a character from the Bible. Well I had no idea, and single-parenting it for two weeks didn't help. I put Drew in his pajamas and told him he was baby Jesus. It worked.
