Happy 2nd Birthday to Our Precious Baby Drew!

Oh Drew, I don't even know where to start describing your second year. Bless your sweet heart, your little life was complete chaos until you were about 19 months old. But you'd never know it from your personality. You have stayed happy, the happiest of happy, most every day of your sweet little life. You've recently reintroduced us to the terrible twos, but in all honesty, it's either the fact that it's our second time around or your sweet disposition, that make them a little more bearable!

Sweet boy, I was so happy to find out you were a boy. It may be taking me a while to handle the dirtiness or the loudness you have brought into our lives, but your sweet smile just makes up for it in every way. I'm so happy to get the chance to be a girl mom and a boy mom. You have no idea how happy that makes me. I'm sure the older you get the more you'll introduce me to just what being a boy mom is all about. And I can't wait!

You have such a sweet little heart. You are TOUGH, but can cuddle right down and snuggle, but only for a minute. You are always, always on the move! You took your time learning to walk, but then you didn't miss a beat and went straight to running. You realized how much more accessible everything became! You can certainly hold your own, and it's everything I expected with you. I think you've taught your sister a lot, bless her heart!

Currently, your favorite toys are your sister's kitchen in her room, your vacuum cleaner, your Mater ride on toy, trucks, trains, balls, and cars. You love Elmo and your monkeys, which you call, "Ah-Ah!" You ask for music from The Fresh Beat Band in the car, which is no doubt due to you staying with a four year old girl on a daily basis.

Mommy worries about your speech, but I'm sure you're just fine. You are talking in sentences and started personalizing a few months ago, as in, "I love you Mommy" or "Okay Daddy," or "Thank you Addie." You also say the blessing with your sister and it is ridiculous how cute it is. When I hear you say these sweet things, my heart just swells with love and pride!

Once we moved into our house, you started wanting to be rocked to sleep. You'd really never been much of a rocker like your sister was, but I am delighted that you want it now! You preferred to be bounced as a baby. But now you love to be rocked and ask for us to sing certain songs. It always starts with "Sunshine," as you call, "You Are My Sunshine!" "Jesus Love Me" and "I Love You a Bushel and a Peck" are also always in there, along with a few that Mommy remembers singing to your sister and that were sung to me as a young child. It really is one of my favorite parts of the day, sweet boy.

You have finally developed a love for reading. You originally never liked to sit still long enough, but now you are enjoying your books and are bringing them to us to read. This makes your mommy very happy! Your favorite books are "Little Blue Truck" and "Little Blue Truck Leads the Way," "Roadwork," "The Belly Button Book," and a few others. You love all Elmo books and your sister loves to read them to you. You also love all Sandra Boynton books, which your sister and I love as well!

You will start preschool in the fall, little one, and Mommy can't believe it. I can't believe you are ready. If it were up to me, you'd never start school. It's too much of a sign that you're growing up! And you're my baby, my last little one, and I'd like to keep you that way forever. But I know it'll be good for you. You'll learn so much adn grow so much and I'll love every minute of it.

Summer is just around the corner and I can't wait to see you playing in the pool and see you on the beach. You'll start Little Gym and I know you'll love it. I'm looking so forward to enjoying more and more things with you precious boy.

An hour doesn't go by that I don't thank God for you, sweet boy. You have filled our life and completed our family. Made it just perfect, everything I've always, ever dreamed of and ever wanted. God bless you sweet one. I love you with all my heart, to the moon and back, a bushel and a peck.

Drew's 2nd Birthday!

I cannot believe my baby is two. My last baby. Thankfully, it's such a fun age that I am looking forward to it so much. And thankfully, he still lets me rock him to sleep every single night. And thankfully, he is a mama's boy. So really, I am loving it. I'm just in disbelief.

Since Drew wasn't in a preschool and we are only freshly back in Lexington, we thought we'd throw him a little family party (plus our close friends) at our house. We easily forget how big our families are though and easily had almost 40 people! We did a taco bar, which I loved, but it was still a lot of work. Either way though, it was wonderful. And a great celebration for a precious little boy.

The kids just loved being outside on a GORGEOUS day. Addie Kate loves a house full of people. Drew didn't know what to think, but enjoyed being outside more than anything.
Drew's cake - the lady that was supposed to make it called me the day before the party and said they had a family emergency and couldn't do it. I was so upset, but I understood - and Publix came through at the very last minute.
I love this picture of Drew just chatting away with Aunt Sharon - ha!

Sweet thing did NOT like all the attention being on him!

And sat like this for a long time. Bless his heart!

He perked up with cake and juice box though! Naturally!

Can you find the birthday boy in there?
After the party - Drew passed out! Then woke up and loved playing with his new toys - especially his grill!

And this was on his actual birthday. We invited Brett, Kelly, and kids, and whichever grandparents could come (ended up being Mimi and Googa). We just opened a few gifts and had some dinner. It was a great little night!

Daily April 2013

April was a busy month for us. April and May always are. But we did have a few daily snapshots that I wanted to include.

We threw Andrea a shower for her upcoming wedding to David.
My two sillies.... a typical sight I see.
Our normal Saturday morning routine - pancakes.
One of many, many, many trips to Lowes for our first spring in our new home. Addie Kate and Drew loved riding on the garden cart and here they were playing like they were riding a horse.
Drew has always loved hats. Here, he went to bed insisting on wearing one of his baby hats. Sweet thing. (And I wish it still fit!)
Addie Kate and I snuck away for a little Disney on Ice and Jason's Deli.

My school had a spirit night at Firehouse Subs, so I took the kids for an early dinner and came back home to play in the yard in some beautiful weather. (Look at my neighbor's yard. I bet they wish we hadn't moved in beside them!)

We had an immersion family night at PHES. Addie Kate played a few games in Spanish and met some new friends, while Mommy and Daddy got overwhelmed with the thought of "big school" and immersion.

A Saturday lounge with my two.

We went to Walker's birthday party... a golf theme for a really talented two year old golfer. The kids had a blast. Mrs. Valeri can throw a great party!
(Showing off their visors - precious!)
So that was a glimpse of our April, with much other going on as well!

Easter 2013

We enjoyed another beautiful Easter at St. Peter's. Addie Kate wore one of my old dresses, which I love every time we can make that happen. My mom made Drew a beautiful button-on suit, which I love on little boys.

It wasn't great weather, so we took pictures inside the church. Drew was not in the mood.
He preferred to lay on the pew and cry instead. Geez.
This was seriously the best picture we got of our family. In all honesty, I love it. Drew pushing Tommy's face away is just perfect.

We always let the kids check their Easter baskets after church, since we go to the sunrise service. The children loved all their treats of course. And I'm proud that the Easter Bunny got my memo about less "stuff."

Drew loved his Ah-Ah. Bless him, he has a thing for monkeys.

And naturally, per usual, when we got home, Addie Kate wasn't in the mood for pictures. But I was able to get a few of my little man.

(I put this one in here to show the beautiful detail and great job that my Mom did on Drew's suit. She hated every minute of it. But such talent cannot go to waste!)

My boy and his other obsession at the time - light switches!
Another sweet Easter, and a beautiful reminder of God's unending love for us.
