4 Month Doctor's Visit

Tommy took Addie Kate to the doctor this morning for her four month visit. I had a field trip so I couldn't go, which I was NOT happy about! Tommy first took her to work with him, where she was a perfect angel. Then it was off to the Doc.

Tommy said she was perfect the whole time until that mean old nurse gave her the shots. Whew, Tommy said she turned beet red and screamed - madder than he's ever seen her get. I'm glad I missed that! Addie is now 11 lbs. 7 oz., which is in the 9th percentile of weight. She's still so tiny, but man, we are putting the food to her! She's eating 5.5 oz. (when she's not nursing) and we are even putting rice in those bottles, plus we spoon-feed her rice at night! I imagine if it weren't for that, she wouldn't even be in the 9th percentile! Tommy and I have quit worrying about that though - she's been so active for so long already, and she talks, and talks, and talks (of course, she is MY child!), she's just about to roll over from back to front, and she's sitting up rather well - I'd say we are about half way there on that. So, like I said, no more worrying about her weight. She's just going to be a petite little girl and that's completely fine with us! She was 24 in. long. The Dr. also said her bald spot is completely normal, which I knew, but still don't like! She wants us to go ahead and start solids (other than the rice) just so Addie Kate can get as many calories as possible. I guess she better enjoy that now! She's still on the prevacid - we plan to start weaning that at 6 months. So, all in all it was a great report! We are so very, very thankful!

One more thing, Addie Kate has found her feet. Too cute! I'll try to catch some pics, but it's few and far between right now!

Addie has been quite the model this week, here are some new pictures:

I'm 4 months old!
(and in another precious outfit that my Granny Schreiber made me!)

When we were in Lexington last, Heather let us borrow Lawson's Bumboo seat. Addie loves it! She still looks so teeny in it, but she does well!

Addie cracks me up when she props her feet up on her bouncey seat. She started it a while back but I was finally able to sneak up on her to get these pictures! (I swear, she KNOWS what the camera is!)

I came downstairs yesterday morning and Addie was holding this teething blanket like this, but her other arm was stretched out on the Boppy - she was completely laid back and relaxed! (and yes, she was staring at the television- boo!)

Another picture of her with this teething blanket. I saw it on Alice's registry and thought Addie would like it - the best $4 I've ever spent!

Not for the weary...

Note - this is not for the weak of stomach! But if I am truly going to both use this blog to keep all of you updated Addie Kate's milestones, and if I am going to use it as a "diary" for her, then this must be entered!

Tommy and I (mostly Tommy) had our first big parenting milestone yesterday evening. Hold on to your hats...

When I went to pick up Addie from Mrs. Lu's on Friday, she told me that she thought she was constipated. She had been "straining" (for lack of a better word) almost all day and had passed very little. So, she gave her 1 oz. of warm water, and nothing. I gave her a tsp. of Karo syrup a little later, and still nothing. I felt so bad for my little girl! We went all day Saturday and NOTHING! She was very fussy 3 different times on Sunday and that is just not like her at all. So, I could take it no more and Tommy and I tried the "thermometer" trick (for those of you who don't know, you stick the thermometer up her behind like you are taking her temperature in hopes she'll try to push it out, and a little poo will come with it!) , and NOTHING! I was beyond frustrated. So, I fed her and then I started cooking dinner. Addie was in the kitchen with me, in her bouncey seat, just talking and talking to the little animals on it, then she quit. I looked over and saw her "straining" (I know, nice word!) and told Tommy. He said, "good, if she goes I'll even volunteer to change it!" (Yes, we were that excited over a possible poo!)

So, we make sure she was finished (we've made that mistake once before) and he took her upstairs to change her. All of a sudden I hear Tommy yelling at me to bring him some wipes. I run take them upstairs and walk into the biggest mess I have ever seen. I screamed, "What the *&^# happened?" as I look at my husband with poo hanging off of his arm, look at the changing table with poo ALL over it, and look at my VERY happy daughter about 1 centimeter away from kicking in it! Apparently, Addie had only passed a rock-looking thing and Tommy did the thermometer trick again, and it worked. Oh, what a mess. Tommy had to clean himself up, then he had to bathe Addie, while we took apart the changing table and washed it and her bear (yes, the sweet little bear that is in her video below), and I went back to cooking dinner. Whew, that was a blast.

I told Tommy that I didn't think you qualified as real parents until you had to deal with something like that. Tommy's just thankful that it happened to him so he didn't have 2 messes to clean up!

Happy 4th Months to You, Addie Kate!

Well, my little one is 4 months old today. I looked at the clock on the way to drop her off at Mrs. Lu's this morning and thought that 4 months ago at that time I was just now starting to push! Gracious, it feels like yesterday.

Her little personality has really started to shine through this week. I got probably the biggest compliment a mother of a child her age could get yesterday - Mrs. Lu told me when I went to get her yesterday that she had started fussing not too long before I got there. She then proceeded to say that "She just never fusses unless something is wrong." To me, that is quite a compliment! She's such a joy.

She smiles ALL the time now. We still think it's the greatest thing ever! Even in the mornings when we get her out of her crib, she's laying there smiling! If she wakes up before us, there is no fussing or crying, nope, she just talks and talks until we come to talk back to her! And, to those of you who knew her at the very beginning and witnessed a diaper change, now it's one of her favorite times! Especially if we change her in her room - I have a little Mark Roberts fairy above the changing table, and she talks to that thing like he's her best friend!

She's still mesmerized with bath time. Her eyes are huge the whole time - it's so cute! We really can't wait until she starts playing while taking her bath.

No progress on her hair growing back over her bald spot, or getting in any toenails. It cracks me up - I have to cut her finger nails like three times a week!

I'm attaching a few of my favorite pictures from this past month. Happy Birthday my sweet little angel! You are so loved! (By the way - I had her portrait done in her christening gown and bonnet, I just don't have them on the computer. I will get a picture to all of you!)

Addie talking and rolling over, finally!

I was FINALLY able to get video of Addie talking (she's been doing since she was 1 month) and rolling over (she's been doing since 2 weeks!). And, just to be a little show-off, she has even started talking to her bear that sits on her changing table. It was just so cute and I was able to hold her and the camera at the same time! Hope all of you enjoy!

Addie rolling over:

Addie and her bear:

Addie talking to "her birds." That's what Tommy and I call the mobile on her swing. She cracks me up the way she turns her head to look at it! (Excuse the quality - I had to hide from her and zoom in from the stairs so she wouldn't see me!)

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a great Valentine's Day at the Sweatman's! It was certainly different - Tommy and I didn't get to do what we typically do, and Addie's schedule didn't change just because it was Valentine's Day! It's so funny - our world is definitely not just our world any more! But, it's a great one and we wouldn't change it for anything! Here are some pics for you - she was our little "Love Bug" all day!

Hey! Anybody want my pacy?

Can you tell that my favorite thing is those beautiful blue eyes?

Daddy giving Addie Kate her Valentine's from Mommy and Daddy - Mommy just couldn't resist another excuse to spend money on her girl! (Daddy got gifts too, don't worry!)

Mommy enjoying some Valentine's love with her girl!

Addie already playing with her taggie ball (thanks Jenny for the idea!) - even though it's as big as she is!

Lexington visit and more...

Last weekend we visited Lexington for a number of reasons. Tommy's dad, Addie's Pop, had a birthday to celebrate, Addie's great-grandmother also had a birthday, and Jenny's twins, Harrison and Carter were turning 1. We went first to Tommy's dad's and had a great time eating wings and visiting. Tori and Addie attempted to play together; Addie will be big enough one day! My parents were over there for the fun also. Here are some pics from over there -

After that, we went to Jenny's parents house to celebrate Carter and Harrison's first birthday. They were PRECIOUS! And have grown so much. I watched their slideshow and just about lost it right there. They are such proof as how time flies. Jenny did a great job with their party - Baby Einstein was everywhere! We are going to all have some smart kids! Elliott, Laurie, and Aiden were there too. As soon as Aiden saw Addie he said her name. He's so good! Thanks Laurie for the pictures!

I guess this was taken on Elliott, Laurie, and Aiden's way to Lexington - just thought it was classic Aiden and I had to share it!

Jenny's sister Cindy and Addie Kate - she just held her and swayed for the longest time. Addie was in heaven. And Cindy did it all with a broken toe! I guess my child is just that irresistible! Cindy does my hair - you'd think she'd have some pointers for me with Addie's!

Addie and her Uncle E - check out that hair! I really hope it continues to stand on end the rest of her life! (kidding, please!)

We went and relaxed a little at my parents after that, then Tommy's mom and Chuck kept Addie Kate for us so we could go to dinner, baby free! And got to meet Elliott and Laurie for dessert! Here are some pics from over there -

Sunday we got to go to church at St. Peter's, which was so nice - it just feels like home every time we go back. I really hope to find that in a church up here soon. Anyway, Addie made her entrance alright - as soon as we sat down (thank heavens we were early!) she started screaming. We got her calmed down though and she was great the rest of the time! Other than the fact that every time the people behind us started to respond, Addie thought she should talk back to them (including during the Lord's Prayer!), she was great! We just laid her down on the pew! We ate lunch with my parents and headed back up to Greenville shortly after. It was a really nice weekend. I hate we couldn't see more people, but we enjoyed seeing everyone that we could!

Yesterday we went to visit our friends Amber and Mikey and their new little bundle of joy, William. He's such a teeny little thing and sweet as can be!

No major accomplishments other than the fact that Addie is teething and trying to sit up on her own. The teething isn't so bad, she's just had a little upset tummy, is fussy during feedings, and drools like a faucet! She chews on her little hands and bib all the time too. I came downstairs this morning and Tommy said, " Show Mommy what you can do," and he sat her up! It was only for about 3 seconds and she was leaning forward a lot, but still, we are making huge leaps! Daddy also got her dressed this morning (he dresses her every morning, but I pick out her clothes - she's got to look GOOD!), it was head to toe Clemson, including pacifier! He even changed out her pacifier clip ribbon to orange! It cracks me up!

I have tried and tried to get video of her both turning over and talking. Here are 2 attempts, neither of which were successful, she got quite fussy, but you'll get the drift!
