After Easter, Tommy went back to Greenville to move his office. Addie Kate and I stayed in Lexington while Tommy's office moved the majority. He was wiped out every night, so we both thought it'd be best if I stayed in Lexington where I'd have help with Addie. Little did we know how much help I'd need!
While we were in Lexington, Addie had her first ear infection. UGH!!! I was so upset! I have a fear of her having endless ear infections now that she's had her first, but I'm staying hopeful. I'm also not letting myself get poopy about this because we are so very, very fortunate to have a happy, healthy child. Well, on Monday, my Dad stayed home with us - mostly to have some alone time with Addie. Well, she was awful! She didn't want anybody but me and I felt horrible for Dad staying home for that. (He still was able to keep himself busy with his new Mercedes - very nice!) We were able to go visit with Heather and Lawson. Fortunately, she slept while in the restaurant, then played very well while at Heather's house, finally falling asleep over there. Lawson cracked me up - he kept pointing to her nose! Too cute! When I got her back to Mom and Dad's, she was miserable. She was crying, whining, and basically inconsolable. I just knew this wasn't like her - she is always so very happy! I called my mom and had her call my old pediatrician, Dr. Luberoff (our good friend, Dr. Kyle, was off on a CRUISE when I needed him!!!), and thankfully he could see us. Sure enough, left ear infection. I didn't let him down though - when he saw how upset I was hearing this, I broke down just like I used to when he used to see me! Oh, but there was some good news - Dr. Luberoff's nurse weighed Addie at 13 lbs! Holy Moly! Here is a picture of Addie enjoying some story time with Heather and Lawson. (Poor Heather - Lawson got this book for Easter and apparently it's a favorite. I know she read it at least 3 times while we were there!) Below that is a picture of Addie feeling bad!
When I found out the amoxocylin Addie was given for her ear infection was supposed to upset tummies, I was excited. I know, I'm nuts! Well, Addie hadn't pooped in some time and was straining. It broke my heart, plus all I could remember was our last constipation episode (see blog entry "Not for the Weary!") , and on top of that, Tommy wasn't with me! So, when the amoxocylin did not upset her stomach, I tried all the methods. Bless her sweet heart, nothing worked. Finally mom and I had to give her 2 suppositories. Well, they worked. When I had finally changed the 7th dirty diaper in 2 days, I told mom that I thought we had started something we couldn't stop! Goodness, it's either one way or the other with her! (One day I won't talk about poo on this blog!) Let me add here that when she finally had the "blowout," we just had to bathe her. Well, I was doing what I normally do and rinsed her off with the water still in the baby tub. My mom came in and saw me doing it and said "are you rinsing her off with pooey water?" Well, duh, I didn't think about that! So mom just ran an inch or so of water into the big tub and we laid Addie in it. She had a blast kicking and splashing! It was so cute. I have a picture of her, but it's X-rated, so it's not going up here!
Also while we were in Lexington, we were able to visit Jenny, twice! What a treat! I didn't get any pictures, but man are her two growing! I think they look like little football players! They are so sweet and fun and wild!
Mom and I shopped till we dropped. I hit just about every sale there. Addie has some cute fall clothes coming up! I swear, buying for her is my new hobby! We just play dress-up all the time! Addie is a great shopper - like she had a choice! Mom and I did make a mistake and one day took off without the stroller OR baby Bjorn. That was super fun!
We also spent some more time with Tommy's mom and Chuck, had breakfast with Vicki and Kayla, and had dinner with Aunt Carol and Uncle Everett (Aunt Carol took over "prune duty" that night for me! Main St. Cafe will never be the same!). I was able to enjoy a night out with friends Ashley and Alisa, and ran into some other friends while with them at Brixx. (or The Bistro or whatever they are calling themselves these days.)
I could also tell how big my sweet girl has gotten. Heather's mother has let my mom use a ton of her baby toys that Lawson has outgrown (Thank you SO much Kaye!). One day I put Addie on this little hippo play pad/gym. (Tommy thinks I held her the whole time we were at home, so I have pictures below to prove that I didn't!) Addie loved that thing last time we were over there. Well, when I came back through the den to see her, she had taken the gym part off and was playing with it in the non-intended way; and had taken off one of the toys that hangs down and had it on her foot. She was going to town kicking with that thing on there! I was also able to get Addie's scrapbook started, with mom's help, while I was there. Thank goodness! I was already 5 months behind, I hate to think if I were further behind. Hopefully you will all be able to enjoy it soon!
Well, I guess that's it. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Here are a few more pictures. 1st - I was holding Addie the night she was feeling poopy. We were both sitting straight up looking at the computer (at some new clothes for mom to make for her!!!), and she just passed out! Awww!2nd - Addie playing in mom's swing. Heather and I laugh b/c Addie loves this swing so much, and it's not at all like one of those new-fangled, fancy swings. I guess kids really just don't need those things! 3rd and 4th - playtime in Gorga and Nana's bed. (Or Nanny, or Granny, or GiGi, or Mimi, or whatever other name my mom wants to go by. I guess Addie will just make up her own name for her. I love that anyway!) Have a great week!
