Our beach trip this year, to our beloved Edisto, was a blast! We always have fun, but we had more people this year, and Addie Kate was another year older, plus we had our new little man, and it was all just a great time!
The pictures below are a compilation from three cameras, and in no particular order. Ahhh, I wish I were there right now.
David dubbed this picture on facebook as, "I'm ready for my special juice now!" My Aunt Ellen, cousin Andrea, and her boyfriend David started bringing her a Capri Sun last year every day. So of course, precious expected that each day this year too. We don't buy or keep those at our house, except on special occasions, so when the beach rolls around, she drinks as many as she possibly can hold!
She loved playing "Tailgate Golf" - probably more than the adults did.
Our cute little house. It was old and a classic beach house, and perfect for us. I'm sure it's where we'll go next year as well!
Who wouldn't love this place? This is the way a beach should be - no hub-bub and very little commercialization. I love it.
Flying a kite with David.
With the special juice!
Hunting for shells with Aunt Ellen. We found some really pretty ones this year. Andrea found a beautiful welch while in the ocean. Addie knows to listen for the ocean in it. So, when we got ready to pack up and go home, we were having her sort through her shells to pick the ones that she wanted to take home (she picks up a blue million, and most are not pretty!), and she had a fit because she wanted the "noisy one." I had no idea what she was talking about until we figured out that it was their beautiful welch!
Mom looking for shells - her favorite thing to do!
David building Addie a sandcastle. My child canNOT play by herself. Ever. So she'd cond one of us into building a sandcastle with her and she'd just sit back and watch. Little booger!
Little man would take a good nap out here every day. Who doesn't love a beach nap? Don't you just love that precious beach/swimsuit?
This was our set up on the first day. We slowly grew and grew. The tailgate golf and cornhold was out there somewhere, but if we weren't playing or in the water, we were under the tent!
Dad celebrating his cornhole throw one night!
Addie with her pink balls for tailgate golf.
Addie holding up some of her daily "surcies" from Aunt Ellen, Andrea, and David. She is ROTTEN, no doubt, in part from them. She got at least one gift, if not numerous, each day at the beach! One day she came wandering downstairs with something behind her back (something she's just learned to do), then she pulled out and put on a butterfly mask. I just looked at Aunt Ellen and Andrea, assuming they'd given it to her, and they just laughed saying that she'd found the prize bucket!
Addie striking a pose!
Me holding my little man one night out on the beach.
Cornhole again one night.
The beach again one day. Never did I ever think I'd see my brother reading on the beach one day. I guess we all grow up at some point! I don't think I even read one magazine the whole time. And definitely no books. Ugh! I used to be able to consume about one a day! Maybe next year!
Addie Kate and David again with the kite.
The boys and cornhole one night.
Aunt Ellen would opt to rock Drew most nights instead of playing games. Games included Farkle, Apples to Apples, Dominoes, or Scattergories.
That is SERVICE right there! Tommy feeding me a piece of the fish and chips that Andrea and David brought us back from their lunch date one day at Whaley's. So good! Tommy and I went back the next day and they weren't open!
Addie again with tailgate golf.
Little man taking a snooze.
Drew taking a nap again, this time, inside on the couch.
Here Drew and David were taking a nap together!
Andrew and Uncle Paul.
Addie Kate and Aunt Sue.
You can barely see it, but that's where Addie would sleep - on an air mattress in my parents' bedroom. (The price jump for a five bedroom house is huge! I know we'll have to do it one day!) She'd fall asleep watching the ipad every night, and was such a good girl about it, even though the rest of us would still be out in the living room playing games, watching movies, or whatever.
Andrew and his sink bath. We won't be doing this next year!
David and Drew after dinner one night at the Jungle Shack.
And of course, I had to have a picture of my babies. I smocked Addie this dress (only one I completed all summer!) and made Drew the little bubble to match. It was precious on them both. Hopefully she can wear the dress again next summer nad I can make Drew a matching jon jon.
Love, love, love my beach babies!
That same night, there was a bluegrass band playing outside. Addie never misses an opportunity to dance!
She's probably the only person that could get Googa on a dance floor.
And her with her daddy. You know how much my girl likes to twirl! That's why she prefers bishops, Mary De, or yoke dresses to wear!
Again, my little precious boy with Uncle Paul. Loved this baby gown on him - I got a good three months out of it!
Andrew one day on the beach. I think this was a late afternoon out there, because we didn't usually take a stroller.
My sweet little sunkissed girl!
She loves anytime Drew gets a bottle and loves to help us feed him!
We were all out in the water watching David fly his kite. He got it out really far, and enjoyed it, until he had to get it back in! We loved watching him do that!
I could totally live at Edisto, and we have now declared that we'll do two weeks next year. One just is not enough! I can't wait!
