The First Six Weeks

Wow, Tommy and I cannot believe that it's been six weeks that our baby girl was born. Whew, time flies. Since this is my first post, I'll give a quick birth story and quick six week update! I hope everyone enjoys this - I love to write, so I'll try to keep things short!

On Oct. 22nd, Tommy and I went to lunch with his family at Wild Wings where I feasted on hot sauce and buffalo chips, and walked several blocks. Just as people say, eating spicy foods and walking, sure enough, my water broke at 5:45 that afternoon! It was nothing major, Tommy joked the whole time that we'd be coming back home that night, but nope! The Dr. said we weren't leaving without a baby! The next morning at 9:21, Addison Kathleen joined the world at 7 lbs., 15 oz. and 19.25 in. long. I had only one bad contraction, and other than having to use forceps to get her out, everything went rather smoothly! Our entire family and friends Heather and Steven were there to welcome her into the world. Heather was even in the delivery room with us, thank heavens! She kept us sane! Here are a few pictures from then: 1- Tommy and me once admitted (see the pitocin drip - fun!), 2- Addie's debut, 3- Mommy and Addie and some 1-on-1 time, Waiting to be dismissed, Addie wedged herself in this position, 4- our family, finally going home, 5- Addie and her daddy, at home at last!

The first six weeks have gone well. Addie slept through the night when she was just 2 weeks old. She does it off and on now, so we are grateful! She rolled over from her tummy to her back 3 times now, starting when she was just 3 weeks old. Today, at 6 weeks, 1 day, she smiled at me for the first time (other than in her sleep). It just melted my heart! She's cooing and focusing and we are loving it! I'm already terrified about going back to work!

We enjoyed Thanksgiving with our families, her cousin's 2nd birthday party, a night away from mom and dad, and one half-day with her babysitter that will keep her when I go back to work. She's been a busy little girl! Now we are getting ready for Christmas - we are so very, very blessed and thankful. It's sure to be a wonderful Christmas for us!

A few more pictures: 1- Addie's Gram and Pop (she was 6 days old), 2- Addie with her Granny and Gorga (she was almost 2 weeks), 3- Addie with her Uncle Paul and Aunt Susan (they had just gotten engaged that day!), 4- Big Yawn!, 5- Now that is some hard sleeping, 6- Sweet baby girl, 7- Right after her first bath at home (whew, that was an experience!)
